Congratulations to Dave Lloyd !

After putting in a lot of hours of practice down at the Club field Dave entered his very first competition, the 3D Championship Grass Roots 2010 and achieved a very well deserved 4th overall place. Well done Dave !

Adrian and I met at Dave's house at 5.45am and we all set off for the competition venue, Milton Keynes Heli Club. Pilot's briefing was at 9am and there were a few no shows from the 30 original entries, leaving about 23 pilots to battle it out. First the pilots flew their chosen set manoeuvres, then later their freestyle routine. Dave flew some well executed set manoeuvres and did well compensating for the side wind showing good control to the three judges. His freestyle routine went well also and although feeling a little nervous showed his skills and ability with some very technical flying and good content, with just one small error. When the results came in Dave was in a very respectable 5th place. There was then a top 5 fly off, the set manoeuvres and freestyle routines being flown again. Dave settled into his flying and upped his game improving his control even further and pulled off some excellent set manoeuvres, just making an error with his aileron rolls which must have cost him a few points. Dave then flew his Freestyle routine once more and really settled into it pulling out a really great flight. When the final result came in and Dave had moved up another place to give him 4th overall.
